Short Scar Nose by Dr. Andreas Ioannidis

Short Scar Nose, is a non-surgical technique that we have developed, with intelligent placement of supporting sutures to change the shape of the nose and support the tip, without surgery.

The technique was created by combining the advantages of High Definition Rhinoplasty by Dr. Andreas Ioannidis and Liquid Nose Reshaping.

This gives the possibility to shape the apex with supporting sutures and improve the projection profile, apex width and nostrils. The results of nose reshaping with supportive sutures and long-lasting injectable materials, unlike Liquid Rhino, are not temporary, but permanent. It is important to note that Short Scar Nose Reshaping is indicated for a large percentage of patients. There are certainly limitations to the aesthetic changes it could contribute as it is a non-surgical technique and does not replace surgical treatment where indicated.

The tip is supported by small slits on the inner surface of the stylet through which support sutures are passed between the lower nasal cartilages (inner crura) and the nasal septum, changing the axis of the tip. Changing the axis of the nose helps to cover the hump.

What are the benefits of Short Scar Nose

1. It is done with local anesthesia
2. Duration 20-30'
3. Permanent result
4. Avoidance of injectable materials
5. Minimum recovery time 1-2 days
6. Treats multiple aesthetic problems of the nose
7. Avoid using cartilage grafts to improve projection of the apex
8. Functional improvement of respiratory function

Nasal Tip Support

Suture-supported of the tip of the nos has been in plastic surgery since the 1930s and is constantly evolving. Although there have been many decades of advances in suture tip shaping techniques, the last two decades have had the greatest impact on the development of the practices commonly used today. Our technique Short Scar Nose uses the philosophy of High Definition Rhinoplasty by Dr. Andreas Ioannides for top support and addresses top drop, underside separation and top thinning.

A suture goes through the nasal septum and lower nasal cartilages (inner crura) reduces the length of the nose and the nasolabial angle. The recovery time  varies from patient to patient, but usually takes 1-2 days. Patients go straight back to their daily routine without swelling, bruising and discomfort during this time.

COMPLICATIONS

The technique is well tolerated by patients. Adverse effects such as edema, bruising rarely develop and usually resolve within 1 to 2 days. The majority of patients who underwent the procedure are satisfied with the results they receive. Evaluation of the results is immediate as the improvement in peak and image profile is evident.

DURATION

The duration of Short Scar Nose lasts from 20'-40' which depends on the issues we have to address on the tip of the nose.
