Alexandrite Laser Hair Removal

What is Alexandrite Laser?

The Alexandrite Laser is one of the safest and most effective methods for permanent removal of unwanted hair. It is suitable for both women and men who wish to remove or reduce hair on various areas of the face and body, providing immediately visible results.

The system emits a beam of light that is primarily absorbed by the melanin in the hair. This energy causes thermal damage to the hair shaft and follicle without affecting surrounding healthy tissue or internal organs, ensuring absolute safety.

How does it work?

The Alexandrite Laser destroys the hair follicle and removes dark hair permanently. After just one session, hair becomes finer, and 10–25% of hair in the treated area is eliminated. Full and permanent reduction is achieved after multiple sessions, depending on individual characteristics.

The number of sessions required depends on factors such as:

  • Treated area
  • Hair color and thickness
  • Skin color
  • Age
  • Hormonal imbalances or medications
  • Body weight, metabolism, and hereditary predisposition

Areas like legs, underarms, and bikini line are easier to treat, while the face, arms, and abdomen are more resistant due to hormonal influences. Treatments are typically scheduled every 6–8 weeks.

Advantages of Alexandrite Laser

  • Permanent results: Around 80% hair reduction for most patients
  • Fast and safe procedure: Suitable for large areas
  • Minimal discomfort: Usually no anesthesia is required, except for sensitive areas like bikini line or upper lip, where a topical anesthetic cream may be applied
  • Immediate return to daily activities: No downtime required
  • Suitable for teenagers: From 13–14 years old in cases of excessive hair causing aesthetic or psychological concern

Preparation and Aftercare

  • Preparation: Shave the treatment area 48 hours prior so the hair is about 2 mm long (no shaving needed for the face)
  • During treatment: Well tolerated, minimal discomfort
  • After treatment: Mild redness may appear but usually disappears within hours; a soothing cream is applied
  • Hair regrowth: Hair roots fall within 15 days, and the area remains hair-free. New growth begins around 40 days later, when the next session is scheduled (anagen phase)
  • Sun protection: Avoid sun exposure for 7–10 days; sunscreen is recommended for facial treatments during summer

Important Information

  • Natural blonde or white hair cannot be treated
  • Typically requires 4–6 sessions, with additional sessions for more resistant hair
  • Results are visible and worth the investment due to permanent hair reduction and improved quality of life
