Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) is a specialized surgical procedure aimed at improving the contour and firmness of the abdominal area.
Its main goals are:
The result is a flatter, firmer, and more harmonious abdominal profile that enhances the body’s natural proportions.
Abdominoplasty is indicated for:
Each patient is evaluated individually, based on skin quality, muscle tone, medical history, and personal goals, in order to design a fully customized treatment plan.
There are several types of abdominoplasty, selected according to each patient’s anatomy, needs, and degree of skin laxity:
1. Full Abdominoplasty
The most common and comprehensive form of the procedure.
-
Involves extensive removal of excess skin and fat from the lower and middle abdomen.
-
The navel is repositioned in its natural location.
- The abdominal muscles are tightened and repaired along the entire abdominal wall.
- Provides significant improvement in contour and abdominal wall stability.
2. Modified Abdominoplasty (without umbilical repositioning)
Recommended for patients with moderate laxity in the lower abdomen.
- The incision is smaller and does not require umbilical repositioning or mobilization.
- Excess skin and fat below the navel are removed.
- May be combined with localized liposuction to optimize the result.
3. Mini Abdominoplasty
Ideal for patients with mild laxity and limited excess skin below the navel.
- The incision is much smaller (similar to that of a C-section).
- No intervention is required on the muscles above the navel.
- Recovery is faster, with a very natural result.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia and includes the following stages:
a) Incision planning – Determined according to the type of abdominoplasty and the amount of skin to be removed.
b)
Removal of excess tissue – Loose skin and fat are surgically excised; liposuction may be combined.
c) Abdominal wall repair – The abdominal muscles are tightened and repositioned to restore strength and stability.
d) Subcutaneous tissue tightening – Where indicated, Thermi Tight and/or Argon are applied to enhance deep firmness.
e) Wound closure and drainage (if necessary) – Incisions are closed to minimize tension and promote optimal healing.
After the procedure, a medical compression garment or abdominal binder is applied, and detailed postoperative care instructions are provided, including mobilization, drain management, and follow-up appointments.
- Gentle movement within the first 24 hours to prevent complications
- Return to light daily activities or office work after 10–14 days
- Continuous use of a compression garment for 4–6 weeks
- Gradual return to intense exercise and lifting under medical supervision
- Final results become fully visible once internal healing is complete and swelling subsides
