Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is a surgical technique that reduces the size, weight, and mass of the breasts for any reason. A disproportionate increase in breast volume and an inordinate length of relaxation are common symptoms of macromastia. The purpose of breast reduction surgery is to minimize the dimension of the breasts in order to improve the patient's quality of life. It's challenging for a woman with large breasts to exercise, participate in sports, swim, wear the clothes she desires, and stand up without pain. It is undoubtedly a cause of concern for many women, particularly when paired with the feelings of insecurity that breast size can create. Chest hypertrophy has not only physical but also psychological consequences for the patient.

Indications

Breast reduction may be the right choice for you if you have back pain, headaches, difficulty breathing, irritation or necrosis of the skin due to the pressure, you notice streaks on your shoulder from the straps of your bra, feel numbness anywhere in your chest and under it due to weight gain, it simply bothers you aesthetically, or you do not like the overall size of the breast for any reason. It is a safer procedure than it once was, but it is still a major procedure that may require less than an overnight stay in the hospital. Macromastia is an issue, and chest enlargement has not only physical but also psychological effects for the sufferer.

Dr. Andreas Ioannides, a plastic surgeon, will conduct a thorough examination and forthright discussion with you to establish if breast augmentation is the best alternative for you. Only a well-trained doctor can determine whether or not you are a good candidate for such surgery. Because the operation necessitates a lengthy recovery period, both physically and psychologically, you must prepare yourself so that you can properly recover.

Candidates

To begin with, our patient must be in good health, free of ongoing disease or pre-existing medical conditions, and have reasonable expectations for the surgery's postoperative outcome. The most crucial component in accomplishing one's objectives is effective communication. You must be able to communicate your desires to your plastic surgeon so that he is cognizant of them and the outcomes you anticipate. The superfluous skin will need to be removed due to the larger area. Discuss your objectives with Dr. Andrea Ioannidis, a plastic surgeon, to arrive at a rational conclusion.

To complete this process, you must be emotionally and mentally strong. Cosmetic surgery will not be able to fill any of our gaps. It is an operation that necessitates patience and consistency during the recuperation time.

The quantity and glandular tissue in the breast determines how big it gets. When we have a patient with large breasts but a lower-than-average weight, the surplus glandular tissue is typically reduced. The breasts fairly regularly become heavy when a patient has a substantial percentage of body fat since fat cells continue to expand. What will be removed is totally determined by the breast's anatomy and desired size.

The most essential factor in achieving the objectives is clear communication.

If a patient has a low percentage of body fat (as in lean people) but still wishes to have breast reduction surgery, the glandular tissue and skin will be removed in addition to the breast augmentation. Unless there is excess breast tissue, and a patient has a high proportion of body fat, the fat will be removed without injuring the glandular tissue. The skin will also be removed, and the hair will be straightened.

So keep in mind that when it comes to removing glandular tissue, fat cells, and excess skin, the top priority is glandular tissue, fat cells, and excess skin.

Breast reduction may also be required in instances of large breast cancer, which can emerge during adolescence or pregnancy. The frequency of pregnancy-related conditions is usually 1: 100,000 or one pregnant woman in 100,000. This can affect both breasts, but it's more likely to affect just one, resulting in a severe asymmetry. The average breast weight of a woman is 200 grams. Mastitis patients' breasts might weigh anything from 4,000g to 7,000g or more (in total). In patients with mastitis, streaks, infections, and other skin abnormalities are common under and around the chest.

The cause of mastitis is currently unclear; however, estrogen may play a role in the diagnosis of this condition. Biopsies demonstrated some hyperplasia of the mattress and breast epithelium, which may have contributed to the patient's chest expansion and soreness. Secondary complications following breast augmentation can occur, resulting in a variety of issues that must be addressed. If the primary source of the problem, breast growth, is not resolved, the secondary difficulties will almost undoubtedly recur.
