Short Frenulum of the Penis

A short frenulum is an anatomical condition in which the frenulum of the penis is shorter than normal, resulting in limited mobility of the foreskin. This condition can cause pain or discomfort during erection or sexual activity, minor injuries, bleeding, or even frenulum rupture.

When is treatment needed?

Treatment is recommended when the short frenulum:

  • Causes pain during erection or sexual activity
  • Leads to repeated injuries or bleeding
  • Affects the quality of sexual life
  • Is accompanied by inflammation or scarring in the area

How is it treated?

The treatment is simple and involves a minor surgical procedure (frenulotomy or frenuloplasty). It is a short procedure performed under local anesthesia, without the need for hospitalization. The goal is to lengthen or restore the frenulum to ensure normal mobility and relieve pain.

Recovery & Results

Recovery is usually quick, with mild discomfort during the first few days. The sutures are absorbable, and the aesthetic outcome is natural. Most daily activities can be resumed immediately, while sexual activity is generally allowed after a short period, following the doctor’s instructions.

Medical Evaluation

Diagnosis and treatment decisions are always based on an individualized clinical assessment. The plastic surgeon will provide detailed information about the procedure, indications, and expected results, with respect and discretion.
